The adidas Originals by Wales Bonner Spring/Summer 2022 collection is available globally on June 4 th on Confirmed and through select WALES BONNER: Shot by photography duo Jalan and Jibril Durimel and styled by Tom Guinness, the collection is brought to life by a vibrant campaign that celebrates togetherness and connection. The collection presents two elevated riffs on the adidas Country silhouette and sees the return of the WB Samba sneaker, a highlight of the inaugural collection – in two bright color updates. The footwear offering similarly reimagines iconic adidas styles through Wales Bonner’s distinctive lens, emphasising soulful and elegant comfort. The colour palette is bold and joyful, with a trio of colours appearing across the offering: primary red, sun yellow and pale pink. This season adidas Originals and Wales Bonner introduce athletic jacquard knitwear and a new Seventies-inspired take on the classic WB Track Top and Track Pants. The latest adidas Originals by Wales Bonner collaboration reimagines key looks through the lens of music and movement and blends textures, silhouettes and graphic prints. The offering draws on Wales Bonner’s research into the music and photography of Burkina Faso, West Africa, in these decades, and pays homage to creative energy and individuality of style. Continuing to explore and respond to the sportswear brand’s vast archive, for its fourth season the creative partnership focuses on styles from the 1970s and 80s. Take an early look at all three pairs of the upcoming Wales Bonner x adidas collection for FW23 via the top slider above as we await more release details. The label’s branding appears in the same spot as the Samba, and the stitched detailing also takes its form on the SL72’s heel. One appears in green with orange accents, while the other comes in brown and red. The uppers feature a woven mesh upper along with suede overlays and leather tongues. But what it lacks in shine it makes up for in its construction. The two SL72 designs on the other hand come in less-flashy colors. Wales Bonner’s text appears over the heel counter, while exposed stitching highlights the tongue and heel tab. Coming in near-clad reflective gunmetal finish across its upper, the popular silhouette sees the iconic Three Stripes logo dressed in decorative stitches on both the mid panel and heel. This time around, Bonner dons the Samba in familiar details hashed in from the two previous collaborations. Back in 2020, the duo worked together to create one of the most sought-after adidas Sambas in recent history, as well as a more recent one last year. To note, this isn’t the first time Wales Bonner and adidas have worked together. For fans of her menswear label, Wales Bonner, there’s even greater news-the duo is set to work on the Samba and two SL72s in a three-sneaker collection. Unsurprisingly, designers looking to work with the Three Stripes immediately flock toward the popular silhouette, such as Ronnie Fieg and Clarks’ recent project.
